🇬🇧 BIOLOGY NATIONAL CONTEST AACBI

On April 2nd, 2019, the III Biology contest organized by the ACBBI at the Gimnasio Femenino was held; it promotes the preparation of students for the presentation of international exams. In this opportunity the eleventh grade students: Isabella Pineda, Valeria Cormane, Karolina Utrera , Valentina Romero and Alejandra Figueroa participated in the contest representing the Colombo Gales school and obtained the first place. It is outstanding the fact that 14 schools participated in the contest, all of them offering the International Baccalaureate program, showing that students not only have a notorious academic commitment but also a high level of knowledge and skills that was obtained during the two years studied in the Biology program led by Miss Sonia Garnica.

In the contest, by groups, the students had to answer paper 2 questions that had short and long answer questions about the core topics; and from section A, paper 3 questions regarding data based questions and several short answer questions about experimental works on the core subjects. Later in the final round, they demonstrated their abilities individually by answering multiple-choice questions on all the core subjects.

While there are essential skills and activities common to students, our representatives stood out because apart from studying all the core subjects, they devoted extra time to reviewing and preparing some topics in greater depth, which was reflected not only in the two years of the program, but also in their performance in the event.

Congratulations to this representative group of the students, because this is the first step of their promissory professional future. For the school is an honor to count with them and it is a pride to have the award for the best school in Biology Level.
