Los estudiantes de tercer grado realizaron con éxito la actividad sumativa de la unidad transdisciplinaria “Cómo funciona el mundo”, en la cual demostraron la comprensión de la idea central: “Los cambios de la materia representan desafíos y beneficios para la sociedad y el entorno.”
Como parte del proyecto, los alumnos emprendieron la creación de sus propios productos cosméticos, elaborando cremas, velas, gel antibacterial y body splash. Durante el proceso, identificaron y explicaron las propiedades de los materiales, sus comportamientos y los cambios que experimentan, aplicando sus conocimientos científicos para producir artículos funcionales y seguros.
Esta experiencia permitió reconocer el desarrollo de importantes actitudes y atributos del Perfil de la Comunidad de Aprendizaje del IB, especialmente Conocimiento y Razonamiento, evidenciados en la toma de decisiones, la resolución de problemas y la creatividad puesta en cada producto.
La actividad no solo fortaleció sus aprendizajes, sino que también promovió el emprendimiento social, permitiendo a los estudiantes comprender cómo la ciencia puede generar soluciones útiles para su comunidad y su entorno.

Entrepreneurship and Understanding
Third-grade students successfully completed the summative activity for the transdisciplinary unit “How the World Works”, demonstrating their understanding of the central idea: “Changes in matter represent challenges and benefits for society and the environment.”
As part of the project, students engaged in creating their own cosmetic products, including creams, candles, hand sanitizer, and body splash. Throughout the process, they identified and explained the properties of materials, their behaviors, and the changes they undergo, applying scientific knowledge to produce functional and safe items.
This experience allowed for the recognition of key attitudes and attributes of the IB Learner Profile, particularly Knowledgeable and Thinker, as evidenced in students’ decision-making, problem-solving skills, and creativity reflected in each product.
The activity not only strengthened their learning but also promoted social entrepreneurship, helping students understand how science can generate useful solutions for their community and environment.
